Introduction

PutyTa is independently operated by an individual and publishes putyta.com as an educational website about SSH, PuTTY, Windows SSH, keys, and connection problems. You can read every guide without creating an account or sending personal information. This policy covers the website itself. It does not cover a remote computer you connect to with SSH.

Information we collect

If you use the contact form, you provide your name, email address, a selected topic, and your message. Please do not include a password, private key, key passphrase, or recovery code.

The website host may automatically record technical details when a page or form is requested. Those records can include the network address, the page requested, the date and time, the browser type, the referring page, and error information. PutyTa does not add an analytics or advertising service to the pages.

To slow repeated form attempts, the website can keep a coded version of the network address together with the times of recent attempts. This is stored temporarily on the server. It is not a browser cookie and is not used to follow your reading across the site.

How we use information

Contact details are used to read a question and, when PutyTa chooses to respond, to reply by email. Technical records are used to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the website. Recent form-attempt times are used only to limit unusually frequent submissions.

Contact form submissions

The form checks that the required fields are present and that the email address and topic are valid. An accepted question is handed to the website host’s email service for delivery to PutyTa. Acceptance by that service does not confirm that the message reached an inbox.

Questions are sent to [email protected]. They are not stored in a website database. A copy can remain in the sending or receiving email mailbox. There is no account, and submitting a question does not create a support contract. PutyTa responds to inquiries without promising a response time or that every technical problem will be resolved.

Technical information and server logs

Hosting logs are a normal part of serving a website. Their exact contents and retention depend on the hosting provider. PutyTa uses them for reliability and security, such as investigating a failed request or an unusual volume of form attempts. The provider’s name and log schedule are not stated here because they depend on the hosting arrangement.

Spam prevention and data security

The form includes a hidden field intended to catch automated submissions. A submission that fills that field is not treated as a visitor question and is not emailed. The form also pauses further attempts when too many arrive from the same network address during a short period of about 15 minutes.

PutyTa uses the host’s access controls and email service to protect information in transit and at rest. No website can promise that information will never be lost, intercepted, or disclosed through a technical failure.

How information is shared

PutyTa does not sell, rent, or trade personal information. The website host processes page requests, temporary security records, and server logs. Its email service transmits contact-form messages. PutyTa does not use a separate form, analytics, or advertising company in the website.

Information may also be disclosed if needed to investigate abuse or comply with a legal obligation. The names of the hosting and email providers are not published on this page.

Data retention

PutyTa does not set a fixed retention period. Email may remain for as long as the relevant mailbox keeps it. Server logs follow the hosting provider’s schedule. Temporary records of recent form attempts can remain until the server removes those working files. PutyTa does not promise a specific deletion date.

Your privacy choices

You may use the guides without sending the contact form. Browser settings let you view, block, and delete cookies, as described in the Cookie Policy. To ask about a previous message, use the contact form or email [email protected]. Include the name and approximate date of that message, without any password or private key. PutyTa responds to privacy inquiries. No response time is promised.

Third-party websites

Guides link to external sites, including the official PuTTY project. Those sites have their own privacy practices. PutyTa does not control them, and this policy ends when you leave putyta.com.

Children’s privacy

The guides are written for adults learning remote access. The website is not directed to children under 13, and the contact form should not be used to send a child’s personal information. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact PutyTa through the form so the message can be reviewed.

Policy updates

PutyTa may update this policy when the website or its data practices change. The date below identifies the current version. A new practice, such as a hosting cookie or a new service provider, should be described here before it is presented as part of the website.
